I just have to share the most incredible experience I had capturing my brother Jay’s romantic beach engagement session with his amazing girlfriend (now fiancée!) Karrina at Newport Beach, CA! Let me tell you, this was not just any ordinary proposal. It was filled with love, excitement, and quite a bit of adventure on my part! First off, let’s talk about the stress levels. LA traffic is the absolute worst! I was already running a bit behind schedule, and the traffic was not helping. But nothing was going to stop me from being there for my brother on this special day! After all, he had been planning this moment for weeks, and I was honored to be a part of it.
Jay & Karrina’s Intimate and Romantic Beach Engagement Session
Now, here’s where things got really interesting. Normally, when I shoot proposals, the couple has no idea what I look like, so hiding is easy. But this time, since it was my brother, I had to be extra sneaky! And to top it off, Jay sent me a pin with the location, but it led me in the completely wrong direction. So, there I was, standing at the edge of a cliff, totally lost and with no time to spare. But hey, where there’s a will, there’s a way! I was determined not to miss the moment; I gripped my cameras tightly and slid down a dirt cliff. It was equal parts terrifying and exhilarating, but so worth it!!
When I finally made it to the beach, I found a hiding spot just in time! Jay and Karrina arrived, and my heart was pounding with excitement. They have been dating for six years, having met in college. Jay was in a fraternity, and Karrina was in a sorority, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Her soft heart and his outgoing, loud personality balance each other perfectly. The moment Jay got down on one knee, I was ready. Karrina’s face lit up with pure joy and surprise. She had no idea I was there capturing every precious second. And guess what? She didn’t even see me trying to hide! Jay did an amazing job keeping the proposal a secret, and Karrina’s “YES!” was the cherry on top of a perfect evening.
